If you or your child experience:
...it may be worth getting a proper ADHD assessment.
Why Is ADHD Often Missed in Adults?
Many adults with ADHD were never diagnosed as children because:
By adulthood, years of struggling without answers can lead to anxiety, depression, low self-worth, and relationship difficulties alongside the ADHD itself.
1. A Multidisciplinary Team, Not a Single Practitioner
ADHD care here involves a consultant psychiatrist, psychologists, and a remedial educator working together — coordinated care under one roof.
2. In-House Psychological Assessment
Most clinics in Thane refer ADHD assessment elsewhere. Mannshakti CMW Centre conducts ADHD, IQ, and learning-disorder assessments in-house, so diagnosis and treatment planning happen faster and stay coordinated.
3. Evidence-Based, Not One-Remedy
Treatment draws on psychotherapy/CBT, medication only where clinically appropriate (lowest effective dose, regularly reviewed), and lifestyle coaching — not a single-modality approach.
4. Care Across the Lifespan
Assessment and treatment for children, adolescents, and adults — many adult patients are diagnosed here for the first time in their 30s or 40s.
1. Initial Consultation — Discuss symptoms, history, and how they affect daily life.
2. In-House ADHD & Psychological Assessment — Structured evaluation conducted at our centre, not outsourced.
3. Diagnosis & Treatment Planning — A clear clinical opinion and a personalised plan.
4. Treatment — Psychotherapy & CBT, medication when appropriate, and coaching/lifestyle strategies, combined as needed.
5. Regular Follow-Up — Ongoing review and adjustment as progress is monitored.
Our psychologists help you build practical systems — time management, organisation, task completion — and address the anxiety and low self-esteem that often accompany ADHD.

What are the early signs of ADHD in children?
Difficulty sitting still, trouble following instructions, frequent forgetfulness, losing things often, difficulty waiting their turn, and struggling to complete schoolwork despite trying. Not every fidgety or energetic child has ADHD — a proper assessment is what tells the difference.
At what age can ADHD be diagnosed?
ADHD is most commonly diagnosed around age 6–7, once behaviour can be compared meaningfully to same-age peers in school. It can also be identified earlier in some cases, or much later — including for the first time in adulthood.
Will my child outgrow ADHD?
Not usually. Research shows most children with ADHD continue to have symptoms into their teens and adulthood, though hyperactivity often fades with age while inattention, disorganisation, and impulsivity tend to persist. Early treatment makes a real difference to long-term outcomes.
Can teenagers with ADHD struggle specifically with school and exams?
Yes — inconsistent performance despite effort, procrastination, poor time management, and difficulty with long assignments are common in teens with ADHD. Treatment at this stage often combines therapy, study/organisation strategies, and medication where appropriate.
Can adults be diagnosed with ADHD for the first time?
Yes. Many adults are diagnosed for the first time in their 30s, 40s, or later — ADHD doesn't develop in adulthood, but it's often only recognised then, especially in people who compensated well in school.
How is ADHD in adults different from ADHD in children?
Adults are rarely hyperactive in the obvious sense. Instead, it tends to show up as disorganisation, poor time management, impulsivity, and emotional dysregulation — often mistaken for personality traits rather than ADHD.
What causes ADHD — is it genetic?
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition with a strong genetic component, alongside other biological and environmental factors. It is not caused by poor parenting, too much screen time, or diet alone, though lifestyle factors can affect symptom severity.
How is ADHD diagnosed, and what does the assessment involve?
A structured clinical evaluation — history-taking, standardised rating scales, and input from parents/teachers for children or from the individual (and sometimes family) for adults. Mannshakti CMW Centre conducts this in-house rather than referring it elsewhere.
Will I or my child need medication?
Not necessarily. Many people, especially with milder symptoms, benefit significantly from therapy, coaching, and lifestyle changes alone. Medication is considered when other strategies aren't providing enough improvement, and is always reviewed regularly at the lowest effective dose.
Can ADHD cause anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem?
Yes, particularly when it goes unrecognised for years — in both children and adults. We assess and treat these together rather than in isolation.
Is ADHD the same as being lazy, naughty, or not trying hard enough?
No. ADHD is a recognised neurodevelopmental condition that affects attention regulation and impulse control — it isn't a matter of willpower, discipline, or motivation, in children or adults.
Do you do the ADHD assessment yourselves, or refer it out?
Assessment is done in-house at Mannshakti CMW Centre for children, teens, and adults — no need for a separate referral to another clinic for testing.
